VENTURA : 1 Motorist Seized in Sobriety Checks

Ventura police arrested one man on suspicion of drunk driving while conducting sobriety checkpoints at three local intersections.
Police stopped 318 drivers at the checkpoints, which were set up Friday night to identify intoxicated motorists and to educate others about the hazards of drinking and driving.
Officers said they arrested Todd Tapia, 28, of Newbury Park.
Ventura police said Friday’s event was the sixth in a series of 18 checkpoints and produced the lowest number of arrests.
