Willard Bretz Jr.; Head of Local Electrical Assn.

Willard D. Bretz Jr., the electrical contractor who retired last month as manager of the Los Angeles and Ventura County chapters of the National Electrical Assn., has died. He was 69.
Bretz died Monday of cancer at his Los Angeles home.
He had been scheduled this past week to receive his industry’s highest honor, fellowship in the Academy of Electrical Contracting.
A native of Long Beach, Bretz worked in the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany during World War II and earned his electrical engineering degree from USC.
He began his career with Pacific Outdoor Advertising and in 1961 became part owner of Mack Jones Electric in Signal Hill.
Bretz served as president of the Long Beach and later the Los Angeles County chapters of the National Electrical Assn. He became manager of the county group in 1976.
Bretz also worked extensively with young men in the De Molay and Big Brothers organizations.
Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or to Big Brothers of Los Angeles.
