OUTLOOK
Buena Park has improved in each of the last three seasons, posting 12 victories in 1989-90, 16 in 1990-91 and 20 last season. But to call this a rebuilding year is a major understatement. Buena Park’s graduating group won 48 games in three seasons, shared the league championship with Sunny Hills two seasons in a row and boasted two all-league players, Angel Barrios and Bryan Baylor. The Coyotes also graduated one of the county’s top rebounders, 6-foot-7 center Charles White, and its best point, Joe Clarkson (4.5 assists). Tolentino didn’t start last year but was a valuable sixth man who is expected to start at point guard. Chris Stone is ineligible and will be lost for the season. “We lost some great players, the best group to ever play here, but Tolentino is one of the league’s top guards,” Matillo said. “I’m hoping that a winning tradition over the past three years will make up for the loss of some great players. I really don’t know what to expect this year. (Sonora’s Chris) St. Clair may be good enough to win the league by himself.”
