Antoine Jefferson

Jefferson comes to Saddleback from Franklin Learning Center, a high school in Philadelphia. He also brings back memories of another fine forward for Saddleback from Philadelphia--Vincent Smalls.

Smalls came to Saddleback from Philadelphia and helped the Gauchos reach the State title game where they lost to Ventura, 76-72, in 1987. Smalls went on to play two seasons at Hawaii.

Jefferson, who is averaging 18 points, had a career-high 32 as Saddleback beat Rancho Santiago, 86-70, Friday. He also had 19 rebounds.

Jefferson had 50 points and 25 rebounds in two games last week for Saddleback, which is in a first-place tie with Rancho Santiago and Riverside.

Other top performers:

Josh Lewis, who scored 47 points in two games for Golden West, including 25 in an 87-84 victory over Fullerton.

Jeff Porter, who scored 50 points and had 24 rebounds in two Orange Coast losses, 85-73 to Golden West and 78-70 to Irvine Valley.
