STILL DANCIN’: When the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (F1) performs his work “Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder,” UC Irvine dance professor Donald McKayle expects the tale of dreams and despair on a Southern chain gang to be as fresh as when he created it in 1959. . . . But the 62-year-old dancer doesn’t rest on laurels. “I’m still spinning and kicking,” he said. This month, he’ll pitch his latest work, “Shimmy,” a musical on the birth of jazz in New Orleans.
