Canyon Criticism

As a former Arizona resident, I enjoyed your article (“A Winter of Content in the Grand Canyon,” Feb. 21). But I found that comment about not losing anyone on a mule trip in 84 years funny. I have hiked in the canyon a dozen times since 1950, and I recall when a mule jumped off the trail with a passenger and went down 2,000 feet.
