SOKA POLKA: For years, Soka University, nearby residents and state and federal governments have feuded over the school’s mountain campus outside Calabasas. . . . Wednesday, a state Assembly committee squashed an attempt to cut, by $12 million or so, the amount the state would have to pay for the campus if condemnation proceedings succeed. . . . In Washington, meanwhile, Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt agreed to meet with proponents of turning the campus into a park (B1).
