WEST VALLEY : Filing For Council, School Races to Open
- Share via
Filing begins Monday for potential candidates for elected posts in Agoura Hills, Westlake Village and the Las Virgenes Unified School District.
Three positions on each of the two city councils and three seats on the school board will be up for grabs Nov. 2. The three candidates with the most votes in each race win.
The positions held by Agoura Hills City Council members Fran Pavley, Darlene McBane and Ed Kurtz will be open. Kurtz, who is serving as mayor, has said he will not run for reelection.
In Westlake Village, the council seats held by Mayor James Emmons, Mayor Pro Tem Douglas Yarrow and Councilwoman Bonnie Klove will be open.
Voters will have a chance to replace Las Virgenes school board members Judy Jordan, Barbara Bowman and Iraj Brommand. Brommand reportedly will not run for reelection. Los Angeles County officials canceled the school board’s election two years ago, because there were no challengers.
The filing period ends Aug. 6. Potential candidates should contact the city or school board office for filing requirements.
