Federal Judge Fails to Rule on TV Program Rerun Issue: Disappointing network lawyers, some of whom traveled all the way from New York, U.S. District Judge Manuel Real in Los Angeles took no action regarding the networks’ motion to lift the Justice Department’s consent decrees prohibiting the networks from earning profits in rerun TV shows and first-run syndicated programming. Real did not entertain arguments and asked no questions in a brief meeting in his chambers with lawyers from the networks and coalition of Hollywood producers.
