Nation IN BRIEF : PENNSYLVANIA : Youth Killed Trying Imitation of Movie
- Share via
Two teen-agers lying on the center line of a highway, apparently imitating a scene from the movie “The Program,” were struck by a pickup truck, killing one. Michael Shingledecker, 18, of Stoneboro died in the accident. Dean Bartlett, 17, of Franklin was in serious condition in a Pittsburgh, Pa., hospital. Witnesses told police that the teen-agers were following through on a dare when they lay down on two-lane state Route 62 in Polk, about 70 miles north of Pittsburgh. In the current release, college football players, in order to show that they can stand up to pressure, lie in the middle of a highway as cars whiz by.
