Fluor Earnings Up Sharply: Buoyed by operating profit at its engineering and construction businesses, Fluor Corp. said it earned a record $167 million in the fiscal year ended Oct. 31, compared to net income of $6 million in 1992. Last year’s net income figure excluded an after-tax charge of $129 million from the divestiture of a lead mining operation and an accounting change. On an operating basis, profit rose 23% from $135 million the previous year. The company said revenue from continuing operations rose nearly 20% to $7.9 billion, from $6.6 billion.
