ROUNDUP : Simmons Helps Simi Valley Past Newbury Park, 63-49

Nathan Simmons scored 21 points, Vernon Simmons had 14 points and eight rebounds and R.J. Pierson added 14 points and six rebounds for Simi Valley High as the Pioneers (14-5, 5-2) defeated Newbury Park, 63-49, Saturday night in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park. Sean Burnett scored 16 points for the Panthers.

Hart 64, Burroughs 27--Cody Patterson had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, and Brian Ballew added 14 points for No. 1 Hart (19-1, 6-0) in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Harvard-Westlake 68, Chaminade 57--Jason Collins had 17 points and 12 rebounds and brother Jarron added 12 and eight for the Wolverines (18-1, 8-1) in a Mission League game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Ventura 57, Santa Barbara 45--Julie Hardy scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half as Ventura erased a one-point halftime deficit and improved to 19-4 in a WSC Northern Division game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Alemany 55, Bishop Montgomery 44--The Indians (18-0, 7-0) clinched the Mission League championship with five games left. Samantha Rigley had 20 points.

Hart 42, Burroughs 37--The Indians led, 38-37, with a minute left but sophomore Jaclyn Kuptz made two free throws to ensure Hart’s fifth Foothill League championship in six years.

Harvard-Westlake 49, Chaminade 47--With 10 seconds left in the Mission League game, the Eagles inbounded but had the ball stolen while they tried to tell officials that Harvard-Westlake had six players on the court.
