World IN BRIEF : INDONESIA : Quake Kills At Least 102, Injures 500

A powerful earthquake centered in the southern part of the island of Sumatra knocked down hundreds of buildings, killing at least 102 people, officials said. At least 500 others were injured, 300 of them seriously, said Hotman Atik, a spokesman for the governor of Lampung province. The quake was centered in Lampung about 125 miles northwest of Jakarta. Atik said the quake had a magnitude of 6.5, but the U.S. Geological Survey registered it at 7.2.
