COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Swimmers Sweep Relays

Orange Coast’s men’s and women’s swim teams won Saturday in the Santa Monica Relays at Santa Monica Community College.
The women’s team won every event to score 140 points, ahead of Golden West’s 68. Sophomores Brandi Kossub and Sharon Clairemont were on four winning teams each.
The men won seven of the nine relays to score 122 points, ahead of second-place Long Beach (76). Grant Ferguson and Richard Ruffini each swam on four winning teams.
The men and women also combined to win two mixed events.
In the Rancho Santiago baseball tournament:
Rancho Santiago 14, Long Beach 11--Brandon Hoalton (3-0) extended his winning streak to 16 games with the victory.
Matt Kastelic, batting .552, went three for four with two runs and a run batted in for Rancho Santiago (8-2). Daryle Ward went two for four with a three-run homer in the sixth and four RBIs, and Jason Minici hit a three-run homer in the first.
Rancho Santiago will meet Cerritos today in the tournament’s winners’ bracket.
Cerritos 4, Fullerton 3--Center fielder John Gardikas had three hits, including a double, and Bryan Dunagan (1-2) allowed three earned runs in six innings for Fullerton (5-4-1).
In nonconference softball:
Orange Coast sweeps--The Pirates won two games at College of the Canyons, beating Antelope Valley, 2-1, and College of the Canyons, 5-2.
Kelsi Armbruster pitched a two-hitter, giving up only one hit that leave the infield, against Antelope Valley.
Against College of the Canyons, Tami Dowlin had two hits and three runs batted in for the Pirates.
