Major League scouts came to watch pitcher Allan Hebert, but it was the bat of Cal State L.A. teammate Johnny Hilo that made a lasting impression.
Hilo went three-for-five with three RBIs as the Golden Eagles defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills, 7-3, Thursday in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. Conference game Thursday at Reeder Park.
Hilo extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a leadoff home run in the third inning and another solo shot in the seventh.
The game was stopped for 20 minutes when Golden Eagles’ catcher Rob Harris, who was warming up pitcher Cory Lintern, was struck in the neck by a bouncing ball.
Harris was treated at County-USC Medical Center.
