The Pacific Symphony has been highly recommended by state arts advisers for a California Arts Council Challenge grant to support its commission of a symphonic-choral work by New York composer Elliott Goldenthal commemorating the Vietnam War. The panel, which met last week, gave the orchestra a 3+ ranking on a 1-4 scale. Typically all rankings of 3 and above receive funding.
