2 Government Labs to Join Cray, Others in Project: Energy Secretary Hazel O’Leary today will announce a $52-million joint venture involving the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, Cray Research Inc. of Eagan, Minn., and 16 other companies in developing supercharged computers that can be used in oil exploration, building a low-emissions auto engine and other projects. The labs and companies say they plan to develop software for massively parallel processing systems.
