Varco International Inc.: The Orange manufacturer of drilling equipment and machinery reported a profit of $2.9 million, or 9 cents a share, for the second quarter, compared with $1.4 million, or 4 cents a share, for the corresponding period last year. Revenue rose 18%, to $57.5 million from $48.7 million. For the first six months of 1994, profit gained 89% from the year-earlier period, to $5.3 million, or 16 cents a share, from $2.8 million, or 8 cents a share. Revenue increased to $108.8 million from $94.5 million.
