INGLEWOOD : Quake Victims May Get Funds From HUD

Victims of the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake who were denied federal emergency aid or Small Business Adminstration loans may be eligible to receive emergency funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Inglewood received more than $700,000 to help residents and busi nesses that suffered damage during the quake, said Michael A. Harris, coordinator of the city’s Community Development Block Grant.
The City Council will discuss how to allocate the money at a public hearing Tuesday. .
The funds, authorized by President Clinton in February, are available during emergencies and made accessible to people with an urgent need to rebuild, Harris said.
