MONTEBELLO : 15% of Residents Get Increase in Water Bill
- Share via
The City Council has approved a 5.7% rate increase, the second increase in the past nine months, for a company that supplies water to about 15% of the city’s residents.
The increase, which is retroactive to July 1, will raise the average water bill about $1.96 a month for customers served by the California Water Service Co. The increase was approved to cover a 7% price hike for water purchased from the Metropolitan Water District and slight increases in maintenance fees.
Rates charged by four other water companies serving the city were not affected.
The council approved a 17% rate hike in November for the same company.
