WEST LOS ANGELES : Blazes Damage 3 Buildings
- Share via
Pieces of burning charcoal set fire to the roof of an apartment house in West Los Angeles on Sunday night just eight minutes before a fire of unknown origin destroyed three units of another residential building nearby.
Fire officials said there was no apparent connection between the $3,000 rooftop blaze at 10917 Rochester Ave.--which broke out during a rooftop barbecue--and the later, more serious fire at 11520 Wyoming Ave.
Two residents and a firefighter were treated and released for minor injuries suffered during the second fire, which caused an estimated $540,000 worth of damage.
Early Monday, yet another fire was reported in an empty four-car garage at 1516 Westwood Blvd. Damage to that structure was estimated at $55,000.
Investigators are looking into causes of the fires.
