PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Martin Returns at Quarterback

The Rams signed quarterback Jamie Martin and will release a player--most likely a wide receiver because of the overload at the position--today to officially make room for him on the roster.
Martin, an undrafted quarterback from Weber State who was on the Ram roster a year ago as a third-team player, was released after the exhibition season to make room for Tommy Maddox. He will be the team’s No. 3 quarterback against Green Bay.
Chris Miller, expected to start against the Packers, threw a number of well-aimed and strong 20-yard passes Tuesday with trainer Jim Anderson watching. Miller is trying to regain arm strength after suffering a shoulder injury against the 49ers two weeks ago.
The Rams were off Tuesday, but given Maddox’s limited practice opportunities one might have expected the team to take advantage of the free day to provide him extra work to prepare him as Miller’s backup. It didn’t happen, however.
