THOUSAND OAKS : Council May Extend Cable TV Contract
- Share via
The Thousand Oaks City Council today is expected to extend the city’s franchise agreement with two cable television providers by three months.
The extension is necessary to allow the companies and city officials more time to make a long-term agreement, Shirley A. Cobb, the city’s media services manager, wrote in a report to the City Council.
The 1984 Cable Act allowed cities to enter into franchise agreements with cable operators. The agreements allow cities to regulate fees and monitor the service. Falcon Cablevision and Ventura County Cablevision provide service to Thousand Oaks.
