Lufthansa Orders 20 Airbus Jetliners: The German airline ordered Airbus Industrie’s A-319 single-aisle, twin-engine aircraft, giving the deal an indicated value of $780 million. The order was another victory for the European aircraft consortium over Boeing Co. in Seattle and Douglas Aircraft Co. in Long Beach, because Lufthansa plans to use the new jets to replace its fleet of Boeing 737-200s.
