Bank Trader Offers to Plead Guilty: Fighting extradition from Germany to Singapore, former Barings trader Nicholas Leeson has offered to plead guilty in Britain to at least four charges of false accounting and possibly one other, the Observer newspaper reported. The Serious Fraud Office reportedly turned down his offer. Leeson has been in a German prison awaiting extradition to Singapore. He was arrested after making losing trades in high-risk Asian futures markets that allegedly caused Barings to collapse in February from $1.4 billion in losses.
