NATION IN BRIEF : ILLINOIS : Ex-Rep. Reynolds Starts Prison Term

Former Rep. Mel Reynolds, who was sentenced to five years in prison for sexual misconduct and obstruction of justice, surrendered to authorities. Reynolds, 43, turned himself in at the Criminal Court Building in Chicago, where he was to be taken to Cook County Jail to be fingerprinted, strip-searched and given psychological tests. He was to go to the Joliet Correctional Center for assessment before being assigned to a long-term prison. He was convicted Aug. 22 of having illegal sexual relations with an underage campaign volunteer.
