The mother of murder victim Cathy Torrez, a 20-year-old Cal State Fullerton honor student, will be running a food booth today at the Heritage Days festival in Kraemer Park.
Mary Bennett is raising money for scholarships, but she also wants to remind the public that the mystery of her daughter’s death remains unsolved.
Officials have offered a $36,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information may contact police anonymously.
Police discovered Torrez’s body in the trunk of her car on Feb. 19, 1994, in a Placentia shopping center parking lot, one week after she disappeared. No arrests have been made.
The booth will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, near Chapman and Bradford avenues.
