Don’t Blame Lawyers for Frivolous Suits
I would like to commend Pamela Warrick on “Courting Trouble,” regarding California’s vexatious litigant law (Nov. 20).
While the anti-consumer forces pretend “greedy lawyers” are “clogging the courts” with “frivolous lawsuits,” it is not lawyers who file ridiculous lawsuits, it is people with grudges and a mistaken view of our legal system.
As a consumer attorney, I can assure you that it would be financial suicide for me to bother with frivolous lawsuits. We work on a contingency fee, which means that we only get paid when we win for a client. Wasting time with lawsuits that have no legal merit makes no sense.
