Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : President Tops ‘Most Admired’ Poll
- Share via
For the third consecutive year President Clinton tops Americans’ “Most Admired Man” list, according to a Gallup Poll, but First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton has been displaced as “Most Admired Woman” by last year’s runner-up, Mother Teresa. The president gained adherents in 1995, besting the runner-up, former Gen. Colin L. Powell, 17% to 9%; in 1994 he had edged out former President Jimmy Carter, 13% to 9%. Although there are marked changes in order, all but one of 1994’s Top 10 men are there again in 1995, and the one absentee--radio commentator Rush Limbaugh--only missed by a fraction of a point.
