Pacoima : Rain-Delayed Parade Will Step Off Today
- Share via
Delayed one week by an unexpected rainstorm, Pacoima’s 28th annual holiday parade will be staged this morning in a community spectacle that one organizer joked “could probably give the Rose Bowl some competition.”
Marie Harris, co-chair of the event, said that because of the delay, today’s parade will celebrate more than Christmas: “We’re gearing for a happy, prosperous New Year’s parade,” she said.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Van Nuys Boulevard and Amboy Street and proceed northeast along Van Nuys to the Pacoima Community Youth Culture Center at Glenoaks Boulevard. The hourlong procession will feature as many as 50 participants, including former football star Roosevelt Grier.
This year’s theme, according to Harris, is that “we are all one people, created equal, with liberty and justice for all.”
