The Thousand Oaks branch of the American Assn. of University Women is sponsoring a free poetry reading Sunday that will feature several renowned wordsmiths.
Poet Jack Grapes, editor of the ONTHEBUS literary journal, Verve publisher Ron Reichick and Moorpark College creative writing instructor Jane Autenrieth Chapman will read their work at Borders Books and Music, 124 W. Thousand Oaks Blvd., beginning at 8 p.m.
The event, which will run until about 9:30, will also feature Michael Collings, a creative writing professor at Pepperdine University, and local poets Carol Bridge Walker and a woman known only as Ellen.
“I hope the event enables people to get a better understanding of each other,” said Eloise Cohen, an association spokeswoman. “[The event] is part of our ongoing commitment to the arts and humanities.”
