If the Valley was an independent country, it would have finished ahead of 43 other sovereign nations in the Olympics medal count. Through Saturday, the three gold, one silver and two bronze medals won by athletes from the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys would have tied Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, New Zealand, Belgium, North Korea, Norway and Sweden.
