Soccer
Morgan, a sophomore midfielder, came to Cypress with high expectations after a standout career at Whittier La Serna High. She helped Cypress to the state tournament as a freshman and did the same this season. She had two goals Saturday as the Chargers beat Orange Coast, 3-0, in a Southern California playoff game. Morgan’s second goal was her 17th of the season and 100th of the season for Cypress.
Basketball
Linda Rodriguez
* Cypress, sophomore. She averaged 21 points and was selected most valuable player as the Chargers won their tournament.
Jake Anderson
Saddleback, Sophomore
Football
Anderson, a defensive back from Trabuco Hills High, came up with the defensive play of the game that helped Saddleback beat Sacramento, 37-28, Saturday in the Capital Shrine Bowl. He returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown that gave Saddleback a 37-26 lead with about 12 minutes left. It was his second interception of the game. He was selected defensive player of the game.
Basketball
Ray Jimmerson
* Golden West, sophomore. Set a team record by making seven three-pointers, but Golden West lost to Grossmont, 90-86, in overtime.
