Cal Lutheran 10, Whittier 2--Wendy Jackson had three hits, stole two bases and drove in two runs and the Regals (27-1, 16-2) clinched their fourth Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in five years at the SCIAC tournament at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College.
Kylie Gongola, Mandi Comer, Erin Bates and Johanna La Rocque each had three hits in Cal Lutheran’s 15-0 victory over Redlands.
Canyons 8, Valley 1--Andrea Wintermute had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs, for the Cougars in a Western State Conference game at Valley.
Stacy Champy (11-11) struck out 10 and scattered six hits for Canyons (13-12, 9-4).
Bakersfield 8, Pierce 1--Amber Gutierrez had three hits but the Brahmas (15-16, 9-5) lost a WSC game at Bakersfield.
BASEBALL
Pepperdine 10-3, San Diego 8-5--David Matranga and G.J. Raymundo hit home runs for the Waves (28-18, 17-6) in the first game of a West Coast Conference doubleheader at San Diego.
San Diego (26-25, 15-8) took the second game on Brian Mazone’s two-run single in the eighth.
Cal Lutheran 19-6, Redlands 0-14--The Kingsmen had 18 hits in the opener and clinched their third consecutive SCIAC championship at Cal Lutheran (24-8, 19-12).
Clint Britt had four hits and three RBIs in the first game, and Adam Springston (6-1) allowed two hits and struck out 10 in seven innings.
Glendale 12, Valley 7--Matt Hellman had three hits and four RBIs, and the Vaqueros won a WSC Division game at Valley (11-24, 7-15).
John Campanella had three hits for Glendale (24-13, 15-8).
Oxnard 5, Santa Barbara 4--Corey Cloud’s bases-empty home run in the eighth inning gave the Condors (25-9, 16-5) a WSC victory at Santa Barbara.
