A 62-year-old Idyllwild man led officers on a half-hour pursuit from Industry to Los Angeles on Monday after refusing to stop for an expired registration, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident began at 2:34 p.m. on the westbound Pomona Freeway near Crossroads Parkway, said CHP Officer Karen Faciane.
Officers tried to stop the motorist for an out-of-date registration on his pickup, Faciane said. The registration expired in January, she said.
Officers put on their sirens and red lights, but the driver continued down the Pomona Freeway, then northbound on the Golden State Freeway and exited at Los Feliz Boulevard.
“He was not speeding,” Faciane said. “He drove at or below the speed limit on the freeway and on surface streets. He finally got stuck in traffic on Los Feliz, just west of Huxley Street.”
Faciane said the man was arrested and taken to Parker Center, where he was expected to be booked for “evading arrest in a reckless manner.”
