A report on the Agency for Community Development’s activities for the 1997-98 fiscal year was recently presented to the City Council. The agency, which works to eliminate blighted areas by encouraging redevelopment, reported that $7.7 million was generated during the year and nearly $8.3 million was spent.
Among the projects were launching the first-time home buyers program, which offers loans of up to $30,000; repairing Talbert Avenue from Brookhurst Street to the Santa Ana River; and reconstructing the San Diego Freeway on- and offramps at Ellis Avenue.
