Hanna Named to Fill College Board Vacancy

John R. Hanna, an attorney and city planning commissioner, has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Rancho Santiago Community College District Board of Trustees.
Hanna’s competition included a fellow planning commissioner, a retired Valley High School principal, a lawyer whose sister is a congresswoman and a food broker. The board Monday unanimously chose Hanna after publicly interviewing all five.
Hanna, 46, will be sworn in Jan. 26 to replace Charles W. “Pete” Maddox, who recently resigned because he moved from District Area 2, which he represented. The 14-square-mile area covers part of Santa Ana and a sliver of Orange.
Hanna has lived in Santa Ana for about 15 years. A partner with the law firm of Horton, Barbaro and Reilly, Hanna specializes in civil litigation.
