Boys and girls interested in riding their bicycles for fun or participating in contests for prizes are invited to the annual Piru Bicycle Rodeo today.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Piru business owners and clubs will host the rodeo at the Piru Community Sheriff’s Station, said Deputy Luis De Anda.
Children between ages 5 and 12 are welcome, and there will be competitions for each age group. Winners will receive new bicycles, trophies and other prizes, De Anda said.
Bicycle safety checks will be available, as well as free blood pressure and other medical testing for adults.
California Highway Patrol officers and deputies from the sheriff’s K-9 and search and rescue units will conduct demonstrations.
The Piru Community Sheriff’s Station is at 4061 Fenner St.
