On View: Whistle That Delivered Blast in Past
- Share via
Rail history buffs will get a rare chance today to see and hear a Pacific Electric Red Car compressed-air whistle at the Seal Beach Historical Society.
The brass whistles were used to warn motorists and pedestrians that electric cars were approaching an intersection. Each Pacific Electric Red Car was equipped with such a whistle.
The whistle will be on display from 1 to 4 p.m. at the historical society’s Red Car museum, in the 700 block of Electric Avenue.
