Shipping Company Customer Finds Worker Fatally Shot

A man believed to be in his 30s was found shot to death at the Guatemalan shipping company where he worked, police said.

The body was discovered about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday by a customer who had gone to Transguat Transportes Guatemaltecos at 14640 Victory Blvd. to purchase some boxes, said Los Angeles Police Department Det. Stephen Fisk. The victim was dead on the floor with several gunshot wounds in his chest.

The dead man was a two-year employee of the company and was believed to have lived in the Wilshire Boulevard area, Fisk said, adding that the victim does not have relatives in the area.

Coroner’s officials said Thursday they had not yet positively identified the man.

Fisk said the employee appeared to have been dead four to five hours when the body was found. Detectives have no suspects, no motives and do not know what kind of gun was used, he said. There were no signs of a break-in and the victim was the sole employee.

The business, which specializes in shipping packages to Guatemala, was closed Thursday.
