Man Who Raped, Killed Friend’s Fiancee Executed

ATMORE, Ala. — A man who raped and killed a friend’s fiancee and then took her engagement ring was executed early Friday in Alabama’s electric chair.
Steven Allen Thompson, 34, waived any last-minute appeal, saying he wanted to spare further pain to his family and his victim’s family. He told his victim’s mother he was “deeply sorry.”
