U.S. to Help Counter Missile Threat

Israel and the United States signed a strategic cooperation agreement to protect the Jewish state against ballistic missiles, especially from Iran, whose weapons can strike both Israel and U.S. troops in the region. President Clinton and Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu said in a joint statement that the development of medium- and long-range missiles and weapons of mass destruction “has been of great concern to both governments for some time.” A joint committee will be established to implement the agreement.
