Hancock 27, Ventura 7--The Pirates (5-2, 1-2) committed eight turnovers on three fumbles and five interceptions and fell to the Bulldogs (7-1, 3-1) in a WSC Northern Division game at Hancock.
Hancock led, 14-0, at halftime with both touchdowns coming as a result of Ventura miscues. David Mauer opened the scoring 11 minutes into the game when he intercepted a pass and returned it 60 yards.
The Bulldogs’ second score, a six-yard run by Tyler Otis with two minutes to play in the first quarter, capped a four-play drive that began when a Hancock punt hit a Ventura player and was recovered by the Bulldogs at the Pirate 27.
Travis Rogers rushed for 83 yards in 23 carries for Ventura. Brian Shubin completed 14 of 34 passes for 205 yards, including a three-yard touchdown pass to James Clemmons in the third quarter. Shubin had four passes intercepted and backup Brian Rucker completed none of his three passes and had one intercepted.
