Ex-Weatherman Drops Lawsuit Against KCBS

Former Channel 2 weatherman Maclovio Perez has dropped his wrongful termination lawsuit against KCBS.
Perez sued the Los Angeles television station and its parent corporation in federal court, contending that he was fired in 1996 because he has a dark complexion and speaks with an accent.
He accused the news organization of firing or demoting “unassimilated” Latinos and replacing them with Latinos with little or no ethnic bearing.
In his case, Perez said he was replaced by a Latino weatherman with a fair complexion and no accent.
According to a court document made public Wednesday, Perez dismissed his lawsuit voluntarily and with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Attorneys for Perez and CBS could not be reached for comment.
