Miss Medallion Wins at Calder

MIAMI — Miss Medallion, a 21-1 shot, beat Mystery Star by a length Saturday in the $50,000 Judy’s Red Shoes Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Calder Race Course.
Miss Medallion, ridden by Javier Castellano, ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:47 4-5 and paid $44.00, $15.20 and $2.20. Mystery Star returned $5.40 and $2.10, and Holy Capote paid $2.10 to show.
Miss Medallion, a Florida-bred daughter of Honor Grades, is owned by Oscar Novo. Last year she ran only twice, out of the money in both races, earning a mere $310. This year she has won four of 14 starts with earnings of $82,640.
