Seniors’ Daytime Care Service Expands Hours

A program that offers daytime care for elderly adults will expand its hours this week to offer care throughout the workday, officials said Monday.
WISE Senior Services--a 30-year-old program that cares for seniors suffering from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases as well as stroke and other conditions--will begin serving clients from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. as of Thursday.
Formerly, the service operated between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., said program manager Josh Einhorn, meaning that people who worked full-time often had problems arranging for their elderly family members to be dropped off or picked up on time at the senior facility.
Einhorn said the expansion of hours by the agency marks the first time that full-time adult day-care services have been available to Westside residents.
Clients come from Santa Monica, Malibu, Culver City, West Los Angeles and surrounding areas, and pay for care on a sliding scale. Clients are never turned away because of inability to pay, Einhorn said.
