A Brea firm, 20th Century Plastics Inc., which manufactures plastic envelopes and notebook covers, said Tuesday it has acquired two smaller office supplies makers, The G. Neil Companies of Sunrise, Fla., and Duo-Tang Inc. of Paw Paw, Mich. The 38-year-old Brea company, with several hundred employees, is owned by Heritage Partners, a Boston-based private investment firm that financed the transactions.
G. Neil is a major direct mail marketer of human resource supplies to businesses throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Its products include personnel forms, labor law materials, employee skills tests and personnel administration software.
Duo-Tang makes paper-based report covers, portfolios and other information presentation products.
The acquisitions will enable 20th Century to broaden its product lines, said John Kidwell, the company’s chief executive.
Heritage Partners is a private equity investment company specializing in family-owned businesses. Since 1987, the firm has acquired a portfolio of 35 businesses with combined revenues in excess of $2 billion a year.
