Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Linda Healy is recovering in an area hospital after suffering a heart attack Friday, sheriff officials said Tuesday.
Healy, who oversees the Industry sheriff’s station, is expected to be released from the hospital within days, Lt. Randy Olson said.
“This was a shock to all of us,” Olson said. “We all hoping she’ll make a quick recovery.”
A 22-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department, Healy oversees law enforcement in a large chunk of the San Gabriel Valley, including La Puente, Industry, Hacienda Heights, Valinda, Bassett and La Habra.
Olson, the station’s operations lieutenant, is temporarily in charge of the station.
Healy become the captain at the Industry station in 1995, earning a strong reputation for innovation. West Covina officials had sought her to be their city’s police chief.
