Committed: Melinda Moulden, an All-Valley first baseman from Crescenta Valley High, has committed to Michigan.
She batted .391 with four home runs and 23 RBIs last season. She also considered Fresno State, Arizona State and Penn State.

First volley: Santa Barbara plays at Ventura today in a Western State Conference Northern Division opener and a battle between 6-0 teams.
Nicole Gagnon leads the WSC with 89 kills and has the Pirates’ highest hitting percentage at .346.

Time change: Cal State Northridge has moved its men’s game against UC San Diego on Nov. 7 from 7 p.m. at Moorpark High to 8 p.m. at North Campus Stadium.
