State Approves First American Acquisition

First American Financial Corp. said Thursday that the California insurance commissioner’s office approved its pending acquisition of National Information Group. First American, the Santa Ana-based parent of First American Title, announced that it was buying National Information, a South San Francisco provider of information services and insurance products, in November. The deal still requires approval of National’s shareholders. They are to vote on the deal May 12.
